It’s not you trying to do the weaving,
this Country is trying to weave you, this whole continent is you.

Living Data

Building relationships and investing in long-term collaborations is one of the key goals of Weaving Water and it’s parent organisation Treecreate.

One of the key long term relationships is with Sydney based animator Lisa Roberts and her ArtSci focused Living Data project.

In recent years Tracey and Lisa have collaborated on some wonderful projects with other scientists and artists, with a focus on water more broadly and in Lisa’s case the Southern Ocean.

Lisa and the MEASO Living Data team presented at the Meeting of the Waters: Locative Media Oceania.

Meeting of the Waters: Locative Media Oceania explored the themes of water, climate change, deep time and cultural knowl. Panel session with some of the collaborators of MEASO Living Data – Lisa Roberts, Andrew Constable, Cat Kutay and Ellery Johnson. Tracey is also a member of this group and chaired the conversation.

The group in the presentation discussed some aspects of the co-authored paper Enabling Enduring Evidence-Based Policy for the Southern Ocean Through Cultural Arts Practices published in the Frontiers journal in 2021.

Links to Lisa Robert’s work

Over the past week, Tracey and Lisa have been working together on Yarun, renewing collaborative connections and sharing a lot of tentacular conversations and ideas. Lisa is also contributing to the upcoming NAIDOC by Night event – a night walk of the Joondoburri Walk on the 28th September which Tracey is curating. Here are some images of the pair documenting some of the trees on the walk…

Stay tuned for developments in this space…
